In connection with the observance of Kashmir Day across the country on 5 February, the public and various segments of civil society in the major cities of Upper Sindh—Sukkur, Larkana, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Shahdadkot—not only organized rallies but also held seminars. Through these activities, solidarity was expressed with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir, and a commitment was reiterated to continue full support for their struggle in the future as well.
Notably, the head of the Pakistan Study Circle and former Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Ms. Raheela Tuwana, arranged a three-hour Zoom session from Karachi for her workers in Sukkur, Larkana, and Shikarpur. During this session, they had the opportunity to listen to speeches by important national and political figures, including former Governor of Sindh General Moinuddin Haider and a prominent member of the 1973 Constituent Assembly, Ahmed Raza Khan Kasuri.
Both speakers referred to the turbulent conditions of the 1970s and stated that despite extremely difficult circumstances and imperialist pressure, the nation demonstrated collective consciousness and never ignored the freedom struggle of the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir. They emphasized that political differences are one thing, but no political party in the country can remain detached from the Kashmiri freedom struggle. The nation will continue to stand by the Kashmiris in their political, diplomatic, and moral struggle until their objective is achieved.
General Moinuddin Haider also referred to a statement by former US President Donald Trump, in which he had offered to mediate on the disputed Kashmir issue.
In her presidential address, Ms. Raheela Tuwana paid rich tribute to the strong public commitment to the Kashmir freedom movement from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Karachi. She said that the logical conclusion of this movement is near and that the Indian government will be compelled to dismantle its system of oppression and tyranny. She also paid glowing tribute to the people and government of Bangladesh for successfully thwarting Indian pressure and conspiracies over the past year. She expressed confidence that in the upcoming general elections next week, they would demonstrate collective consciousness and further strengthen Pakistan–Bangladesh relations.
